Adopting Ugly Dogs
There is no doubt that most children would like to have pets that
would be part of their families. Aside from cute and loving cats, dogs
are also the first choice when it comes to pet adoption. They are not
just friendly and loyal but very affable at the same time. However, it
can slightly different when it comes to adopting ugly dogs. Not
everybody can take an ugly dog home. But if you still want to give home
to an ugly dog, here are some things that you may want to consider first
before heading to the animal shelters.

Think thoroughly
Ugly dogs can be compared to special canines. Because of their special
physical features, there is a possibility that not all of the members of
your family can accept and love these pets.
Consider your lifestyle
Do you think you have enough time to take care of your dog? Got enough
space for the canine to roam around? Bear in mind that when adopting
ugly dogs, your way of living can affect theirs too. They need your time
and attention to become loving pets. Moreover, they also need sufficient
space for your pet to become healthy and active canine.
You and your family health
If you have infants and toddlers, you may want to think twice before
adopting dogs. See to it that they are not allergic to animals. Also,
you should consider the fact that dogs are not always in the mood to
deal with playful children. Your tots can hurt your dogs unintentionally
which poses a threat to their safety.

Prepare all the dog essentials
By the time that you are sure that you want an ugly dog for your home,
you should have most, if not all, of the things that your dog would
need. Some of these doggie must haves include the food and water bowls,
the dog food, leash, and the bed. It is important that you prepare all
these things beforehand. It would help you to teach your new pet how he
should behave in your new home as early as possible. Moreover, it would
be hassle-free for you if you have all of the things set inside your
home prior to the adoption day rather than rush to the stores by the
time the dog has arrived.
Know the history of the ugly dog
If
possible, ask the about the vaccine history, the parents, temperament,
and other information about the ugly dog. Do not hesitate to talk to the
pound employees about the various details regarding the dog since they
usually have records of the canine especially the adults. It may also be
interesting to know if they can give you a little trivia about the
appearance of the ugly dog as well.
Welcome home!

Make your dog feel comfortable as much as possible. Although it has
already been trained from the animal shelter, it still needs a little
more time to get used to its new home. Do not let the family members
overwhelm the dog. Moreover, gently teach and lead the new member of
your family to his bed, bowl, and some of his other things at the same
time. Let him breathe fresh air outside and keep your dog clean so you
could maintain a loving, happy, and healthy canine.
