The Ugliest Dogs for 2009
Every year, canine lovers all over the world are celebrating contests
and other events that pay tribute to their pet dogs. All of these
creatures are no doubt adorable, cute, and animals that you could not
resist. However, not all of the dogs are as cute and beautiful as those
that are showcased in most canine events. There are also some that are
considered as ugly dogs. They too also have annual contests including
the World’s Ugliest Dogs.
For the year 2009, the World’s Ugliest Dogs contest was held in Petaluma
in California. Unique-looking yet adorable ugly dogs were showcased
during this event. There are a lot of contestants but only one stood out
during the Sonoma-Marin fair. His name is Pabst Egstad or simply known
as Pabst. He grew up under the care of Miles Egstad who came from Citrus
Heights in the state of California as well.
During the 21st World’s Ugliest Dogs, the boxer mix was awarded as
the Ugliest Dog for the year 2009. Miles Egstad just got him from an
animal shelter and since then they’ve been having a great human-animal
relationship. After winning $1600 and a modeling contract from the House
of Dog, Pabst also had several dog items as gifts from companies and
photo shoots from world-renowned animal photographers.
Although he did not won and Pabst beat him in the recent 2009 World’s
Ugliest Dog contest, Rascal is also considered by many as the winner of
the said event. Prior to the 2009 canine pageant, Rascal already
competed with different dog contests and won. He had titles such as
Ugliest Dog for 2002 and the Ring of Champions. His popularity also
gained him several sponsors as well and he was even used to raise funds
for various animal shelters at the same time. Other than that, Rascal
also had his own patented dog leash. The proceeds were also given to the
animal charities taking care of animals rescued from their abusive
owners, stray dogs, and even stray cats.
