Ugly Dogs Contest winners since 2000
Since 2000, owners of the not-so beautiful yet adorable canines were
excited because of the contest for their ugly dogs. The World’s Ugliest
Dog pageant became one of the highly anticipated events every year for
all the animal lovers particularly those who own odd-looking canines.
From the time that the World’s Ugliest Dog contest, the state of
California has been hosting the said event. Below is the list of the
previous and recent title holders of the ugly dog contest. Most of these
dogs now are very popular and became household names after they winning
the competition.
Ugliest Dog for 2000 to 2001
A dog named Nana got the title for the years 2000 to 2001.
Unfortunately, she died one year later. The breed of Nana was never
revealed by her owner. Whenever asked, she would always say the word
“Canardly” or other term for Can’t Hardly Tell.
Ugliest Dog for 2002
Currently known as the Ring of Champions, Rascal won the World’s Ugliest
Dog competition this year. The Chinese Crested canine also competed in
the other dog contests as well including the Oldest Ugly Dog contest in
2008 and 2008 Tim Downs’ Ugly Dog Contest to name a few.
Ugliest Dog for 2003 to 2005
For three years in a row, the Chinese Crested dog was the title holder
for the contest. The blind dog Sam is till famous today although he
already died in 2005.
Ugliest Dog for 2006
After restarting the online voting because of the scandal, Archie became
the official winner of the World’s Ugliest Dog contest in 2006. Prior to
his victory, someone hacked the online voting system of the website and
deleted votes from the dogs named Victoria and the son of Sam, Pee Wee.
As a result, the marketing director along with the other officials has
decided to restart the voting. Archie died two years after he won the
contest.
Ugliest Dog for 2007
 Elwood is a Chinese Crested Chihuahua who became the second placer in
2006, became the World’s Ugliest Dog in 2007. Aside from Rascal, Elwood
is also known as the Ring of Champions for winning several ugly dog
competitions in various states in America including the West Coast’s
Ugliest Dog in 2002. Just like the other Chinese Crested canines that
took the spot for being the ugliest dogs, Elwood also has bug eyes and
wagging tongue which made him a winner.
Ugliest dog for 2008
There were eleven dogs that took part in the 2009 World’s Ugliest Dog
contest. But another Chinese Crested breed stood above them all named
Gus. Rascal also won the Ugly Dog contest of the same year but it was
another competition that was held in Fort Bragg. Just a couple of months
after winning the title, Gus died at the age of 9.
Ugliest Dog for 2009
The winner of the recent World’s Ugliest Dog contest is a canine
which they call Pabst. But Pabst is not a Chinese Crested dog nor have
mixed of the said breed in his blood. Instead, he is a boxer dog that
has an adorable and sweet personality. Those were just some of the
features which made Pabst the crowd favorite.
